Good morning my angels! Currently writing this for you on a wintery Sunday afternoon from my local library! Until I have something better to write to you about (which I’m sure will come when I’m out of visa purgatory hell) I am going to continue to tell you the truth: that I am devouring every book I can get my hands on right now and doing nothing except thinking and writing my ass off for you all. But that’s what small towns are for right?
I also spent Saturday making little cards for everyone that became an annual supporter during our sticker sale, so I’ll be in touch for your addresses this week! And YES, I SEE ALL YOUR COMMENTS/ EMAILS ABOUT THE REST OF YOU WANTING STICKERS but I have to say, I haven’t yet counted up how many we’ll have left (or if we’ll even have any left) so continue to sit tight. Let it be known though that I am incredibly blown away by how many of you want to be repping the SYSCAhood in your day to day lives - obsessed with you all as per.
And to all our bookies - our latest book club pod is out!!!
We remain OBSESSED with chatting with you in the Geneva chat and seeing all your advice for how to get out of our reading slumps and how to log our reading - ugh - forehead kisses for you all.
If you want to be part of the SYSCAhood it is NEVER too late - all ya gotta do is become a SYSCA supporter xxxxx
Arthur children’s book faces potential Florida ban over claim it ‘damaged souls’
Cardi B hurled her microphone at a fan who threw a drink at her

At least 37 killed in Pakistan after explosion at political rally
Thousands march in Liverpool as city hosts Kyiv Pride
Taylor Swift created seismic activity
A bunch of hot recs!
Arthur children’s book faces potential Florida ban over claim it ‘damaged souls’
Because this world couldn’t possibly have any bigger fish to fry, a conservative school district member in Florida has filed to get kids’ book ‘Arthur’s Birthday’, banned simply because Arthur gets gifted a spin-the-bottle game.
“At one point in the book, Arthur receives a glass bottle from Francine the monkey as a birthday present. The bottle has the words “Francine’s Spin the Bottle Game” printed on it.”
Here’s the actual complaint:
I love Arthur and this is the stupidest shit ever.
Cardi B hurled her microphone at a fan who threw a drink at her
So musicians are fed UP with fans throwing shit at them on stage, ESPECAILLY Cardi B, who at a Las Vegas show, HURLED her microphone (notably a bit heavier than the drink) back at a concertgoer.
Apparently, the night before Cardi also threw her microphone at a DJ who kept cutting off her songs. WHY HAVE WE ALL FORGOTTEN HOW TO BE PEOPLE AT CONCERTS??

At least 37 killed in Pakistan after explosion at political rally
More than 100 people have been injured and 37 killed in an explosion in Pakistan during a rally organised by an Islamist party. The explosion, for which the motivation is not yet clear, is a possible suicide attack. More on this story here.
Thousands march in Liverpool as city hosts Kyiv Pride
Thousands of people took to the streets of Liverpool on Saturday ‘KyivPride’ on behalf of the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv 🥺
After Liverpool hosted Eurovision on behalf of Ukraine, they wanted to continue the legacy, so when Ukraine banned the staging of marches (due to Russia’s invasion) the 'Liverpool City Region Pride Foundation’ pledged to host KyivPride too. More on this story here!
Taylor Swift created seismic activity in Seattle
I never expected the next human-inflicted natutal disaster to be an earthquake (it’s usually just the climate we’re fucking with) but Taylor Swift has proved me wrong! At her concert in Seattle, a seismologist reckons that fans generated seismic activity equivalent to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake!!!
And while we’re talking about fans, this is now SYSCA-required reading please and thank you:
And while we’re talking about natural-ish disasters this is now SYSCA-required viewing please and thank you:
And while we’re at it, something else you have to read:

I just read the piece you suggested on Fandom and parasocial relationships and wow it so perfectly encapsulates what I've been feeling. But, it also reminds me of something I saw over the weekend, an upcoming book publishing subscription service that puts prominent booktokers in control of what's being published which just feels... off to me? It's called Bindery, I don't know too much but it feels like something you'd be interested in looking into Luce
