🪖 BTS are serving in the military 🪖
🚙Tomorrow we're in Dunedin!🚙
Tomorrow we're gonna be having our coffee catch up at Allpress Dunedin Roastery from 7:30-9am! No pressure to stay for the whole time, just come, have a filter coffee on us, and say hey!! 💘
Omg so as of this morning we're on day 8 of our roadie (how!!??) and that's not even counting our stop in Blenheim!! Yesterday was HUGE! We started it off with an early morning coffee catch-up at Allpress Christchurch (the most wholesome thing EVER), before heading to the University of Canterbury and chatting to a Journalism class, a podcasting class (they have a whole class for podcasting - it's SICK), recording you an episode of Culture Vulture on our 'lunch break' and then had a Q&A hosted by the gorg UC Women in Business gals!! it was honestly the biggest day of talking I think any of us have ever had, but it was SO fun, and Christchurch has really given us so much love!!! Thank you to anyone who came along, and HI TO ALL OUR NEW READERS!!!
I also want to spend a sec giving some love to our gorg campervan "Bertha" AKA Shit You Should Camp About (kindly trusted to us by Britz) - because she's doing us SO well. We're currently parked up at a campsite in Christchurch (the Amber Kiwi campsite to be exact) and honestly, as incredibly lucky we are to have been staying in hotels/ our own beds, there's just something SO FUN AND WHOLESOME about sleeping at a campsite - and it's even better when you're in a campervan!!
When we rocked up to the campsite, my lil bro Ben backed Bertha into the site & he & Liv plugged in the power (#girlbosses) and then the most hilar part of the night came when it come to getting our PJs on and getting our beds ready. Bertha is a 6-Berth camper, but when you get four grown people with HUGE suitcases/ pod mics/ laptops/ general shit in there, space really is... left up to the imagination. It's basically gridlock traffic whenever more than one of us wants to move around at once - which is fine and hilar! We've taken to using the bathroom as our storage room (did I tell you we also have a rule - no using the bathroom in Bertha??? We figured we're never THAT far away from a toilet so we don't need to be using it/ emptying it.) We've also got a 'baking sink' which is purely us storing the excessive amount of baked goods we've been given in the sink so they're never too far out of reach.
There was one point where all four of us were inside trying to get ready for bed/ set up our beds & it was honestly like TETRIS!!! But each time we get our beds made and snuggle in (and start telling spooky stories, hi slenderman) it really does make for the coziest and most wholesome sleep and we LOVE IT SO MUCH (except for when Liv hits her head on the roof in the middle of the night (she's in the bed up the top) and wakes me and Rubes up.) All of this is to say that it's so much fun and I'd highly recommend the campervan life and I hope you're following us on our journey each day on TikTok!!

BTS to join the military, giving a whole new meaning to the 'BTS Army'
There have been years of debate as to whether BTS (you know them, the gorg K-Pop group we all love) will be required to serve their compulsory military service in the South Korean army (over there it's mandatory for all able-bodied men aged 18-28 to do about two years.) Today, the news has broken that yes, after being allowed to put it off until the age of 30, the seven members of the band will be serving, with Jin (29) starting preparations next month.
Viewed by many South Koreans as national treasures - some lawmakers had suggested the band could be granted an exemption so they could keep performing. Such exemptions have been given to Olympic medallists and other high-achieving sports stars, classical musicians and dancers.
However, the statement from the band's managers on Monday said the musicians were content to carry out their duties.
South Korea has these rules around military service because they're technically still at war with their neighbours over in North Korea (you know, the ones who are often testing missiles etc) so it's in their interests to stay prepared.
I actually think this will be a really interesting phenom to watch - seeing a fandom (espesh the Army who are legit unstoppable when it comes to most things other than the actual government of course) interact with something like military service. Will we start seeing military stans? Will this get weird? Who knows...
Now for my obsession with Matty Healy
Ok so I know I'm incredibly late to the party with this one, but ever since we talked about Matty Healy vs triple J on Culture Vulture last week I have just become incredibly obsessed with this unhinged and chaotic man. This coincides perfectly with the release of the 1975's latest album (which makes me feel like my obsession with him isn't of my own doing - the social media gods were defs at play), but I still want to think I'm an individual person who arrived here on my own. I've never really been big on the 1975 - never not into them, I just never really listened. But now?? You can't get me to turn them off! 'Part of the Band' and 'The 1975' from their new album are INCRED and I even just went and bought myself a ticket to their NZ show so I can obsess over Matty in peace (I know, this obsession escalated quickly.) Anyway, I just felt like you should all know that new development about me xxx
Also his chicken shop date:
How did she not KISS HIM!!! One thing about Amelia?? The best humbler out there.
Musk says SpaceX will keep funding Ukraine Starlink internet
Another wee back and forth from Elon Musk over the weekend. First, he said he wasn't going to keep on funding Starlink in Ukraine unless the Pentagon funded it (because he was losing $20m a month), and then he backtracked, saying, actually, he will keep paying for Starlink in Ukraine.
What is Starlink?
Great question! Starlink is "a satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX, providing satellite Internet access coverage to 40 countries" helping to bring internet to rural and isolated areas of the world.
Putting however you feel about Musk aside, Starlink has been vital to keeping people in Ukraine online during Russia's invasion of the country and has become pretty critical to their infrastructure.
In other Musk news - he's selling a perfume called burnt hair atm:
