Hi angels!! Rushing out the door this morning because guess what?? I get to go home today!! I’m still besties with all my hometown hunnies (and most of them live up here in Tāmaki Makaurau), so going home basically feels like we’re just relocating our bants down to Blenheim for a week, but we’re all SO excited to see our families, animals, out of town pals, and hopefully some sun!!! I am SO sorry for all of this Elon content towards the end of the year but it feels like he’s really just trying to make me work RIGHT UP until Christmas (and I will.) According to both the Twitter Support account, and The Verge, Twitter will no longer be allowing users to “promote their presence on certain social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr, and Post.”

Twitter may also suspend accounts “used for the main purpose of promoting content on another social platform,” and will no longer allow users to link to third-party link aggregators, like Linktree or Lnk.bio.

Specifically, we will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms and content that contains links or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post.

There are some obvious exceptions to this list - like the monster that is TikTok - which is pretty interesting considering it’s such a huge competitor. It’s also pretty shit for content creators who basically need to promote themselves and their other channels to diversify their audiences and make an income. Anyway, that’s the latest!

Laura is our resident ray of sunshine. She’s a new London dweller, chief of romanticising literally everything, and will definitely ask you all what your love language is at some stage. We love her to death and can’t wait to have her therapeutic wisdom in here whenever we can!

Well, SYSCAhood the day is here!!!!! It’s been six months since we left NZ, 120 days since we lost gas in London, and today we finally got reconnected 😭😭 I said I wanted to find community here in London and I truly did - Reece the gasman is my new best friend (he even made a 9pm house call during his holiday to make sure he saw the project through to the end 🥺) brb while I take the worlds longest hot shower - but first - a wee excerpt from this journey because if there is one thing about me it’s that I will mine any experience for a metaphor / life lesson ✨

It’s cliche as hell but nothing tests a relationship like ~~casa amore~~ moving country, and (particularly at the start) the whole ✨not being able to shower / heat the house / having to use a camping stove thing ✨ really shook up the dynamic with me and my partner! At first, him filling up the bucket so I could shower in the morning was cute, but by week 4 I remember texting Luce that I had reverted to the worst version of myself aka teenage Laura with severe martyr syndrome … (an unhealthy enneagram 2 if we ever saw one!!). It’s big oldest child/ type A energy but when something goes wrong, I have a huge “it’s up to me” complex which saw me really obsess over the whole situation - achieving very little and tbh throwing a real dampener on our first few months here.

It’s no secret that relationships can be like holding a mirror to yourself - they reflect your whole personhood back to you in all its glitz and grime and when in a healthy, safe relationship it offers an opportunity to look again at behaviours you may have learnt that really aren’t serving you (or the people around you!) I think this is true of all intimate relationships - flatmates or soul friends get the pleasure / pain of seeing you in a way those relationships you can ‘manage’ (like 9-5 work colleagues) don’t - because you can’t leave them at the door! There’s no hiding what you are like when it’s -6 degrees outside and you‘re severely overreacting about developing insane levels of dandruff from dry shampoo overuse because you can’t face *another * bucket shower 😫

Anyway - all this to say the other night Ru turned to me and said “I really love our relationship right now” and honestly it’s so cheesy but he was right! We had been sooo comfortable in NZ, and while we have pulled the clutch RIGHT out (to quote Bel) re familiarity (new job / flat / country / friends is a lot in one go in hindsight ) and have had a bit of turbulence working it all out, we are experiencing new things every single day together and through that looking in the mirror & finding out new things about ourselves too. So here’s to leaning on the people you’ve allowed to see behind the curtain!! Which brings me to what will be a part 2 because I’m SURE this will get cut off otherwise - but it’s time to talk attachment styles 💖💖💖 do you know about them? Do you care??
