+ A scandal at the BBC, & the Barbie Premiere was last night (pics!!!) 🎀💞
Angels - I’ve made it! After packing up my little yellow wagon and driving (and then ferrying) across the country, I’m happy to announce that I’m writing this to you from my childhood bedroom, where I’m going to be living/ working/ rotting for the next few months until I get my Portugal visa!
In front of me is a giant One Direction poster, above my head is a painting Liv did for me of Lana Del Rey when we were 16, and to my right is a painting she did for me of David Bowie when we were in our second year of university. It’s like I’m in a museum of all my past eras and there’s something comforting about that for me.
I’ve been wholly, truly, and deeply consumed by the book ‘Red White and Royal Blue’ for the past few days, as well as Love Island (I made my family watch the infamous ‘Movie Night’ with me last night) so I haven’t been consuming anything that heavy or… intellectual lately (how can you when you’re driving across the country to start a new life??)
Hope you’re all doing okay - I love you and I miss you xxxxxx

BBC suspends host accused of paying a teen $45K for sexually explicit photos
Yikes - a scandal outta the BBC this week. From what we know, they’ve suspended one of their ‘top hosts’ over allegations of sexual misconduct.
According to NPR, the male host (whose identity isn’t public) has been “accused of paying a teenager £35,000 (nearly $45,000) for sexually explicit photos over a three-year period.” These exchanges allegedly began when the person was 17.
The way this came to light was that the British tabloid The Sun (I’m sure we all know it well) broke the story with an interview with the alleged victim's mother. She told the paper her teen used the money to fund a drug habit.
"I blame this BBC man for destroying my child's life," the unidentified mother was quoted as saying. "Taking my child's innocence and handing over the money for crack cocaine that could kill my child."
Ironically, the BBC have no further comment, but you can read more on this story here.
Shit Show Podcast ep: Why the Supreme Court sucks
This week on the mic we discuss all the new decisions from the Supreme Court, explain what's going on in France, talk about a 'Mars' simulator, a hot dog eating competition AND Lolita the whale being released from captivity!
This episode of The Shit Show was brought to you in partnership with the wonderful charity KidsCan, backed by their Principal Partner Meridian Energy.

The Barbie Premiere was last night!!
And yes, I am dedicating a newsy segment to it because I wanna show you some of the fits:
And of course, I need to give a shout-out to Speak Now, Taylor’s Version
As if I needed anything ELSE to bring me back to my younger self, Taylor Swift goes and re-releases Speak Now AND sings my number one song of all time - LONG LIVE - as a bonus song in her set for the era’s tour 🥺🥺
Also, she invited Taylor Lautner up, he did a couple of back flips, said some really nice things about her, and they debuted a music video for “I Can See You” (the best vault track.)

as timing would have it, as soon as I sent this out there were updates to the BBC story:
- A lawyer representing the young person at the centre of the BBC presenter allegations has disputed their mother’s account of events
- In a letter to the BBC, the lawyer says "the allegations reported in the Sun newspaper are rubbish"
- It says the young person sent the newspaper a denial on Friday, but it proceeded to publish "their inappropriate article"
