a peek into my diary this week xxxx
Before we get into this morning’s Ask Me Anything I really just wanted to say thank you all SO MUCH for your support over the first few months of the year. From helping me get my brain back, to supporting the media you love, to sending me your writing to publish on
- you’ve made it such a spesh start. To give something back to you, I wanted to have a wee sale 𓆩♡𓆪
I know times are fucking hard - for you, for small businesses, for the whole media industry, and I will always have the majority of our content free for all (don’t you worry) but for anyone on the fence about supporting the media you love, here’s 30% off an annual subscription 𓆩♡𓆪
In return for your support, I’ll be here, day in and out, replying to your emails and making you feel seen, whether it’s from my childhood bed in New Zealand or the floor of an airport on my way to bring you somewhere new.
Now, for your questions this week…
How do you prepare for a big interview like Zendaya? Like fr my nerves would have been through the roof…
How do you force yourself to write when you’re not feeling it?
How do you go back to your hometown without feeling like you’re betraying your teenage self?
Did you always know you’d be this awesome or was it a surprise?
Fave cereal?
How do you prepare for a big interview like Zendaya? Like fr my nerves would have been through the roof…
This might seem silly or materialistic or unimportant, but for any interview - whether I’m doing the interviewing or answering the questions - I think about my outfit. This isn’t because I wanna look hot or cute (bonus when I do) but because I want to be as COMFY as possible. I don’t want to be worrying about anything except doing a good job - not adjusting a strap, underboob sweat, flashing anyone - I wanna be so comfy it’s unbelievable. For example, here was the fit for Zendaya:
Do as much research as you can and find things that actually interest YOU. Spend a bunch of time getting to know the person/ people you’re talking to, and whenever you see something about them that interests you, note it down. For example, Zendaya LOVES the movie Shrek 2 and so does Ruby. So, if things started getting awkward I was going to bring that up. Don’t ask questions that you think will get you a viral soundbite or that have been asked a million times before. Be fresh. Be cute. Be weird.
