This was a very welcome perspective and a beautifully written piece. My daughter has bipolar disorder and I am familiar with the fine line Marielle mentions in her comment.
As someone with CPTSD, constantly questioning my perception is exhausting. I appreciate this article because it gently reminds people that making irrational choices is not the same as being wired with irrational fears. If I could choose to go back, I would. Tread lightly on the edge if you must.
I enjoyed this it was mindful and gave perception to every angle of this topic, as someone who cares for demented folk, i can honestly say "delulu ain't solulu"
Absolutely loved reading this! If anyone wants to read a memoir-style book about a person’s experience with psychosis that is still packed with humour, I 100% recommend reading ‘Pretty Sane: Living with Schizophrenia’ by Nicola Wall! I devoured it and learned so much about delusion and psychosis 🩷
I’ve had to walk the fine line that separates “hypomanic bliss” from “trip to mental ward” many times over (I have bipolar disorder).
Was glad to see A First Rate Madness referenced here! That was a great read.
