IT'S MY FAVE DAY OF THE YEAR
Mōrena lil shits!!
Have you all watched the first episode of the new season of Euphoria? I did last night have and damn I love that show! I also started watching Yellowjackets which is way creepier/darker than I expected but I saw so much buzz about it (pardon the pun) that my constant need to keep up with the cultural curriculum pushed me to watch it (and pals you can actually watch both Euphoria and Yellowjackets here with a 14-day free trial!!)
Thank you so much to everyone who sent this email on to five of your pals/ family members/ co-workers!! I had people get their bosses signed up to ‘learn some Gen Z speak,’ some dads, some friends - it was so lovely seeing you all forward it on! If you know someone who you think would love to have the world summarised for them every morning in the funnest way possible, forward this baby on and tell them to come and subscribe to stay in the loop!) LOVE YOU!

We must protect Axel Webber at all costs
My latest TikTok obsession - for a few weeks now (which is quite a while in TikTok terms) - is Axel Webber, a 22-year-old dude in New York who lives in the tiniest apartment you can imagine, lives off $1 peanut butter from a street vendor, and whose life goal was to get into Julliard and become an actor. Me (and over 2 million other people) are invested in his journey and 2 days ago we got to watch him before - and then after - his Julliard audition. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful (and people went straight to Julliard’s Instagram comments to let them know they made a mistake), but Axel is so earnest and endearing that the likes of Charlie Puth were stitching his video to give him pep talks, and his failure (and positive attitude towards it) just kinda made him more loveable!
Even though he didn’t get into Julliard, Axel has something that’s arguably more important in this day and age: a huge, authentic, and invested social media following. He’s already got an agent, he’s signed to a modelling agency and I’m damn sure he’ll be landing all the roles he wants soon. Taylor Lorenz wrote this chefs kiss piece about him for New York Times (because of course she did) and if you wanna get in on the Axel buzz, that feels like a pretty good place to start! Or, you know, just watch his TikToks.
Prince Andrew might finally face some consequences
Content warning, sexual assault.
Despite his lawyers trying their hardest to get the case thrown out, a judge has heard that Prince Andrew is going to face a civil case in the US over allegations he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre when she was 17.
Ms Giuffre said she was the victim of sex trafficking and abuse by Jeffrey Epstein, and part of that involved being ‘lent out to other powerful men,’ she alleges.
Prince Andrew, the Queen's second son, has said that he had no recollection of ever meeting Virginia Giuffre (do you remember that wild interview he did a few years ago where he also said he physically couldn’t sweat?) and that her account of them having sex in the US and UK "didn't happen".
The case for the grand old Duke of York could be heard later on this year, so I’ll keep you in the loop!
CULTURE VULTURE IS BACK FOR 2022!
A Succession Special! - Culture Vulture — open.spotify.com
This week Luce is joined by Succession superfan and Kendall Roy lookalike Duncan Greive to discuss all things Succession, and it's just a RIDE. From accidental dick pics, to the unravelling of a dinosaur media company, this show is literally the best thing on TV. Listen up!
If you need a laugh today, look at the NZ Taxpayers Union getting ratioed by furries
Yesterday I linked to this brilliant piece by Dylan Reeve for The Spinoff. Its headline is aptly, ‘Who runs the internet? Furries,’ because when the NZ Taxpayers Union (who are basically just Twitter trolls with 0 good takes) decided to take offence to it, the furry community came out to play. And it’s everything.

I mean I would say ‘ugh just leave them alone!!!’ but honestly, the furries got this.
Furries: 1
NZ Tax Payer Union: -69.
I’m having an Andrew Garfield moment
And so is the rest of the world apparently. This isn’t news, per se, I just felt like you should know. First, it was ‘Tick, Tick… Boom!’ where our man really flexed his vocals. Then it was all those photos of him being a little tote bag book boy.
THEN it was this video where he talks about eating pot brownies and getting suuuuper high at Disneyland.
And apparently, as that song by that small indie band goes… he doesn’t know he’s beautiful??
It’s my fave day of the year
It rolls around once a year. It’s not my birthday or the first day of summer, it’s… Wendy’s National Roast Day. By now you all know how much I love brand Twitter and a large part of that is thanks to Wendy’s being so… ruthless.

National Roast Day is off to a pretty good start! Here are some honourable mentions so far:
Towels? I like em rough
Actually, I don’t know how I like them, but one of you wonderful email readers sent me this debate on reddit about whether people prefer a soft or rough towel (I had to be careful about how I worded this because there’s something not quite right about saying a ‘crispy’ or ‘crunchy towel lol.) Anyway, of course, I took it to the mundane polls, where 77% of you liked your towels soft, and 23% like it rough (apparently it does a better job drying/ absorbing when it’s rough!)
