News has emerged that officers waited in the hallway as children trapped with the Uvalde shooter were calling 9/11, and naturally, people are mad.
“On Friday officials admitted that police had delayed entering the school for over 40 minutes because they did not believe it was still an "active shooter" situation.
The senior officer on the scene decided to wait until the school janitor arrived with the keys because they thought that either "no kids were at risk" by then, or "no-one was living anymore".
Because of this atrocious handling of things, the US Justice Department has said that they’re going to review the response from law enforcement to “provide an independent account of law enforcement actions and responses that day, and to identify lessons learned and best practices to help first responders prepare for and respond to active shooter events.”
…. I mean we’re all thinking it… the fact that you’re having to pour so much time and energy and training into how to deal with shootings probs means you should be looking at what’s causing the shootings in the first place. But go off tho.

A headline straight out of this 2022 hellscape. Kalush Orchestra (the band who won Eurovision this year) have just sold their trophy in an auction for $900,000USD to raise money for the war in Ukraine. The money will go towards drones for the armed forces, and even though the band seems so happy to help (here’s what they posted on their Facebook page)...

A PIVOT I DID NOT SEE COMING! Jeffree Star is someone I’ve lightly watched over the years - I’ve never been a subscriber, I’ve just seen the odd video he’s made with Shane Dawson (eek) and James Charles (eeker) and the last time I thought about him was probably when there was that rumour that he was dating Kanye West???
Anyway, now he’s a farmer in Wyoming, where he owns his ‘Star Yak Ranch’ and talks about his 40+ Yaks on his YouTube channel (they’ve become a pretty big part of his content.) He calls them his pets, says that they’re part of his family, and says he started the Yak ranch purely because he loves them…
...except now he’s got a business selling Yak meat.
A few days ago he posted on his Yak farm Instagram account a photo of the Yak meat, with the caption: “Our delicious grass fed #Yak meat will be available on our online store soon, hoping for next month!”
Now, this isn’t the biggest surprise in the world, back in September Kat Tenbarge reported on Jeffree buying the Yaks and trademarking the business name and industries (butchering does make an appearance in there):

That headline is pretty self-explanatory, but a 36-year-old man dressed up as an old woman in a wheelchair, smeared cake all over the Mona Lisa (well… it’s protective glass anyway.)
After the incident, he was escorted out of the Louvre yelling ‘Think of the Earth. There are people who are destroying the Earth. Think about it. Artists tell you: think of the Earth. That's why I did this."

I saw this question asked on (surprise surprise) TIkTok - and it honestly SHOOK ME. For how big of an impact phones have on our lives WHY DO I NEVER EVER SEE THEM IN MY DREAMS? I took this question to all of you, and here’s how you voted:

Thankfully for us, in 2018 The Cut published a whole piece about why we don’t dream of smartphones, which you can read here but TLDR; we tend to dream more about the fears and anxieties of our ancestors “so, less about, say, hacking, and more about running from wild animals” and survival I guess. I for one take slumber as a welcome break from my phone, so I ain’t mad!!
