HI ANGELS!!! How are you???? I am currently stuck up in Auckland because the weather at home is too crazy to land a plane - I was up here to watch the SailGP with the angels at Red Bull, and I didn’t think I would care, but it turns out it was actually really scary/ cool/ exciting. Sports You Should Care About anyone??
Before I came to Tāmaki Makaurau, Abby and I were in Christchurch to watch Wuthering Heights (an entire podcast to come on this soon, so hold your judgement please) and to watch our girl LORDE, who is SUCH A SINGULAR AND BEAUTIFUL TALENT.
This was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to - it was my fourth time seeing her, and she just NEVER MISSES. The trip was topped off with a lovely (albeit brief) chat with her in the regional airport lounge, which just continues to prove why I love how small Aotearoa is.
Anyway, let’s do some news, shall we?
Kim Jong Un Is a Girl Dad. Unfortunately, He Is Also Kim Jong Un.
Ok, before we get into the girl dad of it all, I want to state something plainly: Kim Jong Un is not a quirky world leader with a PR problem. He is the authoritarian ruler of North Korea, and under his regime, there are documented human rights abuses, political prison camps, severe censorship, starvation crises, and a nuclear weapons programme that keeps me up at night.
The reason the internet is going crazy over him being a ‘girl dad’ is that South Korea believes that his teenage daughter is close to being designated as the country’s future leader.
Who is she?
The thing about North Korea is that we barely know anything about the country and what goes on there, and we also barely know anything about the people. So his daughter is believed to be called Kim Ju-ae and about 13 years old - but again, I cannot be completely sure.
“She holds no known official title in North Korea. The outside world has never heard her voice. The North’s state media has not even named her, referring to her only as the “most beloved,” “respected” or “dear” daughter of its leader.”
Why would Kim Jong Un name her now?
Some analysts are saying that because Kim Jong Un was just 26 when he was officially named heir, his decision to debut his daughter early could be to reflect this. In saying that, we really have no idea when Kim Jong Un is going to be out of power, so watch this space I guess???
WATCH TRUMP MALFUNCTIONING
Nothing to add, just watch:
Barack Obama just confirmed aliens are real
And the interviewer didn’t even ask a FOLLOW-UP QUESTION???
Here’s the clip:
And I know what you’re thinking, yes, the universe is wild and unknown, of course aliens exist, but it’s SOOO 2026 of us to get a literal president acknowledging the existence of aliens and it just feels somewhat… normal.
NEW HARRY STYLES INTERVIEW JUST DROPPED
The photos are so beautiful, and I’m going to share some of my fave quotes:
On leaving One Direction:
“When you’re in a band with four other people, there’s so much room to hide. There’s only ever so much weight that’s on your shoulders. The first couple of times on stage [without One Direction], I’d think, “What do I do with my hands?” But I also felt very alone all of a sudden. I was lucky to have the opportunity where people were interested in what I was going to make, but I put a lot of that pressure on myself, wanting it to be correct. With that first album [Harry Styles in 2017] I was trying to explore what music I would make by myself, but in that moment I felt there were a lot of people who had put faith in me and I didn’t want to disappoint people or let them down.”
On being an uncle:
“Also, in that time my sister [Gemma] had a baby — and at any other time in my life I would have missed a lot of that. To be there to get to know my niece as she’s growing up, it’s so obvious to me what’s real. It was really obvious that was where I wanted to be.”
“And going into this next chapter I’m very excited for the tour, but if we were only doing two shows and my niece and sister were there watching me, that would be as fulfilling as I need it to be.”

It really shows how deprived we are of good things, that we and up collectively going “aaaaw” when the dictator seems to be nice to his child
As a Korean American with family in South Korea, I appreciate you acknowledging the ~duality of man.~ Like the other comments have stated, it's possible for someone to be a good father but a terrible person. (At least, to a certain extent.) But as you stated as well, it's also...Kim Jong Un😂. I don't think a lot of people outside of Korea (understandably) know that North Korea is constantly making threats toward South Korea, and I even got a handful of national missile threats and evacuation orders on my phone whenever I went to visit SK. (On multiple occasions, btw!) I genuinely worry about when the war might resume since it never officially ended.
So yeah, it's nice to see that he has a heart somewhere in there, but thank you for also reminding folks that—well, it's him.😅
