Let women have interests!
On NOT having to put a coin in a jar every time you mention Taylor Swift ✿𑁍❀
A video blew up recently of a woman’s husband making her a jar to put money in every time she mentioned Taylor Swift in their house. You can hear her laughing in the background and they’re kind of jesting about as he cellotapes a sign on the outside of the jar. Ha ha ha.
On one hand, I get it. When you live with someone sometimes the smallest things can get really annoying. Like… if you leave a spoon in the sink one more time I’m going to pull the door off its hinges.
But there’s part of this that’s a bit like, kill me. Really? Let her live!
I’m not trying to rat out men here and this is not a ‘not all men!’ related quest to unpack the idea behind this video. But it is just like… why AREN’T women allowed to have interests? Why can’t they be related to pop culture or design or politics or investing and be considered as socially acceptable as dedicating your life to a sports team like a sub-form of religion?
