7:30-9am at Allpress Dunedin Roastery
This weekend was gorg because on our way down the motu (island) we got to spend the weekend in Blenheim - our hometown!! This meant home-cooked meals, sleep ins, seeing all our pets & getting the SYSCA families together for a bit of a boozy lunch (we've all been best friends for about 10 years now, which means our families are besties too 🥺🥺)
On Sunday we all piled back into the campervan and started the journey to Christchurch! On the way we stopped in Kaikōura for some fish and chips (you gotta do it) and when we got there we parked up at our campsite and went out to a place called Gin Gin for dinner with Ruby's sister Maggie & our my hometown bestie Josh!!!
Tomorrow I think I'm going to have to write about how HILARIOUS it is that all four of us are living/ sleeping/ working in the campervan because I don't think we've focussed enough on it yet and I really want to give you an insight!

Climate Protesters Throw Soup At Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers', Glue Themselves To Wall
Over the weekend, climate protesters went to London’s National Gallery and threw tomato soup at a Van Gogh painting to protest fossil fuel extraction.
"The group Just Stop Oil which wants the British government to halt new oil and gas projects, said activists dumped two cans of Heinz tomato soup over the oil painting, one of the Dutch artist’s most iconic works."
And this isn't the first time this group has targetted art - last July Just Stop Oil activists glued themselves to the frame of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” at London’s Royal Academy of Arts, and to John Constable’s “The Hay Wain” in the National Gallery.
Something to also note:
Though there is said to only be minor damage to the frame, two people involved have since been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and aggravated trespass. Video below!

They've been threatening us with it for a little while, but Netflix is finally ready to start rolling out their new pricing tier... a tier that includes ads 🙃
One of my fave new newsletters The Future Party called it 'Diet Netflix' and here's what they said about it:
"Diet Netflix:
THR reports that the tier will launch in a dozen countries, including the US, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, and France, between November 1-12.
In the US, the tier will cost $6.99 per month, with pricing in other countries at a similar price point.
The tier will have about 4-5 minutes of ads per hour of programming (in 15-30 second spots). Original movies will only have pre-roll ads.
Users will also be unable to download content for offline viewing, and about 5-10% of licensed content won’t be available to watch due to pre-existing deals."
I get it - they're probs losing engagement/ viewers now that they're cracking down on password sharing, and because they no longer have a monopoly on streaming, so adding a lower price tier with a few ads to drive up that commercial revenue is an effort to help them keep surviving. And we all use Netflix so we want them to keep surviving right? Just... without ads.

Because they won too many awards last year!! I'm not kidding - in a statement released to Rolling Stone, Bruno Mars said that they won't be submitting 'Leave The Door Open' to the Grammy noms this year because they've already had their chance to shine (at the Grammy's they won Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance & R&B Song.)
“We truly put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually, bow out of submitting our album this year,” Mars says. “We hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party. Thank you for letting Silk Sonic thrive.”
“We’d be crazy to ask for anything more. Andy and I, and everyone that worked on this project, won the moment the world responded to ‘Leave The Door Open.’ Everything else was just icing on the cake. We thank the Grammys for allowing us to perform on their platform — not once but twice — and awarding us at last year’s ceremony.”
I kinda love this from these self-aware kings (unless this is all part of a bigger plot that I'm not seeing...)
