Are you harbouring some... strange nostalgias?
Hi crushes <3
Having an absolutely gorgeous, random week - hbu? I've befriended some new neighbours on my street to have spritzes with, continued pursuing my new haus dance passion, which has now become 50% of my personality, and even got to meet some of you recently in my poetry workshops! Sometimes life is so good, and you shouldn't ever question it.

Luce and I have been laughing lately about this trend on TikTok of people harmonising with their (literal) fans. It sparked a whole convo about the strange nostalgias people are harbouring for... simpler times? Like... what did you use to do when you were bored before you had a TV in your hand? Are we missing boredom? Why are people romanticising things like lockdown and burner phones? Do we all just want to quit our jobs and move to the countryside and... back to our childhoods?
In trend forecasting, which I sometimes dabble in for work, we talk about cultural pendulum shifts between progressive, new technologies (you probably haven't heard of AI and crypto, but they're crazy) and a collective yearning back to practical simplicity (people buying burner phones, analog photography, CD walkmans coming back into fashion etc etc).
I sometimes wonder whether we're in the latter: we miss the unexamined life (not being able to google ourselves and therapy being less of a mainstream thing), we miss not knowing what everyone was up to all the time (that weird feeling where you catch up with friends and they know exactly what's been going on because they've seen you tagged in peoples' Stories), and we miss a... simpler existence and doing weird, mundane, analogue things?
I miss that feeling of being away from my phone for the day, coming home and feeling like I have a whole digital world to catch up with. And you?
As per - see you this weekend for Wait, But What? where I'll continue answering your existentialisms. Ily!

The Biden administration is sending $1 billion more in weapons to Israel
Ahhh yes, that’s one way to secure Gen Z’s vote! Yesterday the Biden administration has told key lawmakers that it would send more than $1 billion in additional arms and ammunition to Israel, just after putting another arms transfer on hold citing “concern for civilian casualties in Gaza.”
As per AP news:
The package disclosed Tuesday includes about $700 million for tank ammunition, $500 million in tactical vehicles and $60 million in mortar rounds, the congressional aides said.
