I'm so out of the loop with the Charli XCX stuff but I'm happy for all her fans because it sounds like she dropped an amazing album! It's also nice seeing Taylor able to be so public about a partner and have fun with it, good for her. Go pop girlies!

“forgot that inside the icon there’s still a young girl from essex” gave me chills, the whole collab felt so cinematic actually, have now been turned off taylor forever and ur so right about how people should just find what they want and ignore the rest, so many times i’ll see a hate comment and im like “why not just scroll?”. unless it’s something genuinely thought provoking or harmful, i bet most ppl wouldn’t appreciate if THEIR interests they use to relax and have fun with (like sports for example) was met with “is there not more important things going on than the euros?”, obviously there is but as humans we have this insane ability to care about multiple things at once! there is something to be said about how mass pop culture things and events, like the euros or pop stars, can be used as a tool of mass distraction bc sometimes the ppl themselves don’t realise they can care abt two things at once (they prolly do but it’s just an excuse to be apathetic). eg “stop bringing politics into pop culture/sports/fashion ect ect” when all those things are political already and it’s essential that we question that so that at least we know what’s going on behind the scenes and why. but most of the times people say stuff like that they don’t mean it that way, they see it more as a cheap opportunity to mock women. they want to make it seem inferior and frivolous- which then i think in turn leads to the above “dont think too much abt it” sentiment bc we’ve been trained to see it as not that serious when in reality it’s what most of the world are tuned into regularly, so ofc it’s important. so it’s all a cycle that manages to both benefit the (likely misogynistic) ppl who keep “feminine” coded interests in a perpetual state of laughable insignificance purely to put women/girls down with no further questioning (and don’t keep the same energy for “masculine” coded interests) and the enjoyers of these “feminine” coded interests (men/boys also obviously do a similar thing with the apathy but cite different reasons) can uno reverse that onto anyone who has genuine observations (who are usually in these spaces themselves) in order to keep their comfort and not have to question anything, which is understandable honestly but again u can scroll when ur not ready and listen when u are. sorry if this devolved a lot, your piece brought up a lot of thoughts!

I really wish I cared about the Lorde Charli thing. I love how enthused you are about it.
