The referendum here in Australia was not a vote to give First Nations people of Australia and Torres Strait Islanders more rights. The Voice Referendum was voting whether to change the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing a body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
This was part of the problem, people didnโt know exactly what they were voting on. There was a lot of misinformation on the internet, just as you have included in your newsletter today.
Unfortunately the No campaign ran with the slogan, โif you donโt know, vote noโ, which just encourages Australians to be ignorant to the real issues.
Western media is not the best place to understand the true Israel-Palestine war update. Theyโre report biased and false news. Please do more research and educate yourself.
Super disappointed about the referendum result here in Aus, but if anything I'm more disappointed that not a single state (ACT is technically not a state and the population is tiiiiny) voted yes.
This weekend was also the parlament elections in Poland and it was amazing to see all young people make a big change from a right ruling party to a leftie majority
Change can be good. There was little difference between both labour and national. Having worked in the Agricultural industry for the last decade, you can see how damaging Labour's policies were for farmers. Too much regulation and not enough support. It's no wonder there was a massive swing outside the urban areas.
Kate Lindsay of Embedded wrote a great article in her newsletter about the pressure and expectations on social media to post regarding complex global crises, even though posting support doesn't solve anything, and not posting (for whatever reason, like idk, taking a bit to figure out how you actually feel about it all) doesn't mean you don't care. Worth remembering when you are drowning in a tsunami of bad news.

Niall Horan and Hozier played back to back sets at Austin City Limits yesterday and both mentioned losing to NZ in rugby โ ๏ธ
