Another Celebrity Apology Video 📽
➕ Greta Thunberg detained, & are you a titanic girl🚢, a Salem witch trials girl🧙♀️, or an Anne Frank girl? 📖
Goooood morning my angels. I’m trying to think of things to fill you in on - how bad is it that my days have simply consisted of working and sleeping mostly?? Having this newsy as my daily diary really does hold a mirror up to my days huh! I went for a lovely walk with Hayden in the morning and got an INCREDIBLY YUM bacon egg and cheese sammy (do you all call sandwiches sammies??) And then I had a hella productive day working on the heartbreak project we’ve got coming out ❤️🩹❣️
After work I had a drink with one of my besties where I asked her the question I’m gonna ask you a lil bit further down in this newsy: Are you a titanic girl, a Salem witch trials girl, or an Anne Frank girl? (She was a Mt Erebus girl.) I continued to read ‘Watching Women and Girls,’ VOWED to buy the second and third books in the ‘Thursday Murder Club’ series, did some journaling (trying to do more things that I’m intrinsically motivated to do - you’ll hear more about this on Culture Vulture this week) and the watched Community before falling asleep at like 9pm!! Huge non-eventful day!!

Greta Thunberg detained at German coal protest
Another story that broke just as I was about to his send on the newsy (don’t ever say I don’t keep you as up to date as POSS!!) Greta Thunberg has just been detained in Germany for protesting to stop the village of Lützerath from being turned into a coal mine.
I know there is a good and tasteful joke about the fact that Andrew Tate has also been detained here SOMEWHERE, I just can’t find it.
Oh wait found I:
Andrew Callaghan released an apology video
It really sucks when you find out that someone you admired (and told your audience to go and watch) has done some really shitty things. Squish and I (along with a lot of other die-hard All Gas No Brakes/ Channel 5 fans) were hurt this week to learn that Andrew Callaghan had been accused of allegedly sexually coercing women into doing things they weren’t comfortable with. When a woman named Caroline Elise came forward on TikTok to allege that “Callaghan had stayed at her house and “wore [her] down” with requests to have sex,” it encouraged a bunch of others to come forward and allege that they’d has similar experiences, displaying what looked to be a pattern of behaviour. After being silent for a few days, Andrew released an apology video apologising/explaining/responding to these allegations, and I’d really encourage you to watch it:
“I hadn’t realized I had had this pattern that had affected multiple people. I’d like to apologize for my silence. When this stuff first came out, I was in a state of denial and shock. I was denounced by my closest collaborators and my name was printed in 40 different news outlets, next to the words ‘sexual misconduct.’ I just kind of spiraled into a mental health crisis. I’m okay now, but I don’t really think this is about me. This is about the people I’ve affected. So I just want to express my complete sympathy, support and respect for anyone that I’ve done wrong by. I really want to do better and be fully accountable for everything that I’ve done.”
Within the video, he takes accountability for actions he’s displayed in the past and seems to be taking some steps towards action when it comes to bettering himself (going to therapy, giving up drinking, going to AA.) It’s obviously not my apology to accept, but I felt like I owed it to you all to give you an update on someone I’d recommended that you check out.
This photo of a Ukrainian kitchen is going viral
This photo, of a yellow kitchen in an apartment building in Ukraine, is going viral right now as a sobering reminder that Ukrainians are literally still in the midst of an invasion. The owner of this apartment is well-known boxing coach Mykhailo Korenovsky, who was killed during a Russian Strike in Dnipro (which killed 40 people in total) over the weekend. His wife and children reportedly survived.
Dnipro, the city where the ordinary, nine-story apartment building had stood, is far from the front lines where Ukrainian and Russian troops have been fighting viciously over abandoned villages and even mere yards of land. But the strike on Saturday fit a pattern of Russia firing long-range missiles at civilian targets, including residential neighborhoods and electrical plants — what military analysts say is a Russian strategy, in the wake of battlefield setbacks, to terrify civilians and pressure the Ukrainian government into talks.
Are you a titanic girl, a Salem witch trials girl or an Anne Frank girl?
Saw these two tweets the other day and lost my fuckin mind over them for a sec:
God I love that way that I have never had a universal experience. Me? I was a Jonestown Massacre girl, and I couldn’t even tell you why. But I want to know - did you fall under one of these categories? Or did you have your own hyper-fixation? Drop it in the comments!!
New episode of Culture Vulture: Why do we do ANYTHING?
A bit of a philosophical ep on the cards today team, but not before we debunk all the rumours spreading about Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth (nothing like a bit of media literacy to start the ep!). TikTok has gone WILD with big unsubstantiated claims (what's new) about Liam's behaviour during their relashe - and people have been taking it as fact??? Not on this pod!
Then, we get into intrinsic vs extrinsic motivations (thank you to the gorg newsy reader who heard us sorta talking about this last week and gave us the actual name) - and what makes us do what we do. Is it for us? Is it for money? For praise? For likes? How do we make sure we're doing things for the right reasons?? All of this and more in this weeks ep!!
