Aotearoa has reclaimed the Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest haka!!!
My angels! First of all, thank you for being so unimaginably gorgeous in response to what I wrote about my little brother Jimmy.
In a fucked up bittersweet, world-doing-it’s-thing way, today is actually five years since he died. Time huh? Crazy how it just, keeps, going! Feels amazing that so many of you now know him and love him, so thank you for that. I intend to have a really cute day, and spend the night having an edible, lighting a candle, getting in the bath, and replying to some of the hundreds of gorge messages you’ve all sent through.
In other news, this weekend Squish took me and his girlfriend Soph on a total grass touching mission to a little hut in back country NZ and I took along my little pink digital camera (gifted to me by Flo) and look how cute the pics turned out!!!
I am famously very easy to please, so give me a hut, a body of water, and no cellphone reception and I will not shut up about this being the ‘best weekend of my life' (Nick and Soph can attest to this.)

Aotearoa has reclaimed the Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest haka!!!
For the uninformed (or for anyone who has never watched the All Blacks play a game of rugby before), a haka is a war dance of the Māori people here in New Zealand, and displays a tribe's pride, strength and unity - it’s also one of the most beautiful parts of our culture. For this reason (how embedded it is in our culture) I had no idea that the world record for the largest haka was held by FRANCE of all countries, where 4,028 people performed it 10 years ago.
Note: there was an attempt to bring the record home in Rotorua in 2017, but the attempt wasn’t officially verified by Guinness World Records.
Anyway, this time we smashed it, with the official count at 6531 people who gathered to perform our most well known haka ‘Ka Mate,’ composed by Te Rauparaha, chief of Ngāti Toa Rangatira.

1. Kris Kristofferson, US country singer and actor, dies aged 88
Normy was gutted to inform me about this one, as ‘Highwayman’ sung by The Highwaymen (a country supergroup made up of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson) was his second most streamed song on Spotify last year, second only to ‘Safety Dance.’
2. Lewis Hamilton reveals depression battle
Here’s what Normy sent me, via The Telegram:
“Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he has suffered from depression throughout his Formula One career from being bullied at school and struggling with the pressures of racing.
Hamilton has spoken previously about the racist abuse and bullying that he experienced at school as a child, but the seven-time world champion has now admitted that he has been battling depression that he first experienced in his teenage years.”
“When I was in my 20s, I had some really difficult phases. I mean, I’ve struggled with mental health through my life,” Hamilton said in an interview with the Sunday Times.
“[I’ve had] depression. From a very early age, when I was, like, 13. I think it was the pressure of the racing and struggling at school. The bullying. I had no one to talk to.”
Asked if he has ever seen a therapist, Hamilton replied: “I spoke to one woman, years ago, but that wasn’t really helpful.
“I would like to find someone today.”

I am a very independent, fun, #girlboss type of girl. I am a girl who wants to be able to do things on my own and for myself. And my boyfriend knows that.v
But how do I let him know that sometimes I want to be a little passenger princess girlie who wants to not open any doors and walk on the inside of the sidewalk and have my chair pulled out for me before eating?!
Like, I am so glad he knows me so well and lets me be my girlboss self, but how do I keep my integrity and ask for this?????”
