I was kinda dead to the WORLD yesterday - after sending the newsy and catching up with Bel, Liv and I recorded her second to last Culture Vulture ep ever (😥) all about Netflix and The Grammys, and then I came home to work but ended up sleeping for HOURS! I just can’t handle a big weekend anymore!!!

Over 6000 people are dead after an earthquake hit Turkey
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey on Monday, followed by a 7.5 magnitude tremor, leaving over 6000 people dead across Turkey and Syria. This number is still expected to rise, and right now more than 2,600 emergency workers from 65 countries have been sent to the disaster area to assist Turkish rescuers.

Rolling Stone called Harry Styles’ performance at the Grammys ‘lethargic,’ Buzzfeed said “it felt off” and Liv and I thought it was kinda lacklustre (for a Harry Styles performance) - and now we know why. In a now-deleted TikTok (however I’ve seen a few more floating around), one of Harry’s dancers made a video explaining how they’d been rehearsing the most beautiful choreography for about 10 days and by the dress rehearsal it was looking immaculate (for those who missed it, they performed on a rotating treadmill - kinda like in the music video) but when they went to perform the actual number, live on the night, THE TREADMILL WAS ROTATING BACKWARDS! The dancers tried to get the attention of the technician but no one noticed, so they had to try and reverse all their choreo and duets, explaining why it felt a bit slow and disjointed - they were trying to do it all backwards!
Obviously, this is me taking the dancers’ story at face value, but it kinda explains…. a lot! That would fucking suck, and I feel for him, not gonna lie.

I’ve had countless conversations with people who’ve accidentally spent too long watching a type of video (and are then served hundreds of similar ones) or who would love to see a ‘different’ side of TikTok (me included - I love you Matty Healy, but what else is out there?) I can’t help but think that maybe TikTok are listening in on those convos (and I wouldn’t put it past them) because right now the company are “toying with a new feature that will let you reset your For You page if it starts getting dull.”
They’re testing a feature called ‘refresh’ where you have the ability to start from scratch, and it’s being rolled out to a small number of users to test it.
