Harry Styles was painted, twice 🎨
+ Angus Cloud's mother say's his death was not intentional, a new drug has been approved for postpartum depression, & WTF is load shedding?
Good morning angels! I’m currently writing this to you from the top bunk of a rickety old bed, listening to my little brother snoozing below (he’s 20), at a bach in Golden Bay (one of my absolute favourite places in New Zealand!!) I’m here with a bunch of my family and we’ve just been chllin, visiting our favourite spots, and entertaining the little ones (side note: big ups to all the parents out there… couldn’t be me…)

Angus Cloud’s mother says his death was not intentional
Content warning: death, mentions of suicide.
Angus Cloud’s mother Lisa, has spoken out about her son, days after his tragic death, saying that he "did not intend to end his life."
In a post on Facebook she said:
“Friends, I want you all to know I appreciate your love for my family at this shattered time. I also want you to know that although my son was in deep grief about his father's untimely death from mesothelioma, his last day was a joyful one. He was reorganizing his room and placing items around the house with intent to stay a while in the home he loved. He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college, and also help his mom emotionally and financially. He did not intend to end his life. When we hugged goodnight we said how much we loved each other and he said he would see me in the morning. I don't know if or what he may have put in his body after that. I only know that he put his head on the desk where he was working on art project's, fell asleep and didn't wake up.
We may find out that he overdosed accidentally and tragically, but it's abundantly clear that he did not intend to check out of this world. His struggles were real. He gave and received so much love and support to and from his tribe. His work in euphoria became a lightning rod for his generation and opened up a conversation about compassion, loyalty, acceptance and love.
His head injury 10 years ago miraculously didn't result in death as it almost always does. He was given 10 bonus years and filled them with creativity and love.
Social media posts have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that is not the case.
To honor his memory, please make random acts of kindness part of your daily life.
Bless your hearts.”
I can only imagine losing two people you love in such a short space of time, and then having the internet speculate so much (despite it being because they care so deeply), and just wish her some sort of peace amongst it all.
Harry Styles was painted, twice
A few days ago, Vogue published an exclusive about the legendary artist David Hockney painting Harry Styles for his exhibition Drawing From Life. According to Vogue:
The pair struck up an instant rapport that was likely helped by Styles being a full-on fanboy. For his US Vogue cover shoot in 2020, Styles wore a pair of hand-painted Bode cords that featured a talismanic illustration of Hockney by artist Aayushia Khowala. It’s also hard to imagine the wide-eyed wonder of a flamboyant Brit discovering the sunny thrills and spills of California – a theme, and sound, that has permeated the former One Direction singer’s solo albums – without Hockney as a precedent. “David Hockney has been reinventing the way we look at the world for decades,” says Styles. “It was a complete privilege to be painted by him.”
THEN, after this was published, comedian Joe Lycett, tweeted (jokingly)
And Harry SAW the photo, and DM’ed him this:
Iconic behaviour & I love getting lil glimpses into Harry Styles’ sense of humor 🥺
The FDA has approved the first pill specifically intended to treat postpartum depression
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the States have just approved the first pill specifically intended to treat severe depression after childbirth, something that affects thousands of new mothers each year. More details on this here!
TikTok taught me what ‘load shedding’ was
I don’t think I’m alone in saying that 24 hours ago, I had no idea what ‘load shedding was’ (in fact, I know I’m not alone because the TikTok that taught me about it has about 1000 comments saying the same thing.) Basically, I was scrolling on TikTok and I saw a video that said “rushing to make food 30 minutes before loadshedding” The comments on the video were all like "I was today years old when I found out what load shedding was” or “how is TikTok the way I found out what load shedding is” and the video has since had over five million views, many, I assume coming from a lot of people finding this out for the first time too.
I was one of the people that found out what it was thanks to the search bar popping up with a ‘what is load shedding' prompt, and I’m here to pass it on. It’s basically where power is shut off (in South Africa - which is where I learnt about) for a few hours every day because “the demand for electricity exceeds the available supply” so they have to “rotate the available electricity.”
Maybe this is very common knowledge to anyone that’s not Gen Z, but I wanted to share THE VERY BASICS of what I learnt from the City of Johannesburg website and TikTok, but plz lmk any other facts about this.

Can't believe this is how my country gets a shoutout on the newsy😂🇿🇦 Fun facts; today I have loadshedding from 16:00-18:30 at home and 06:00-08:30 in the area I work in. We have an app to track it so at least we know when it's happening🤷🏻♀️ The app is not run by the company that puts our power off.
Hilariously I'd seen the Joe Lycett painting and had NO idea of the Hockney. Truly though Harry had willingly and gamely sat for Joe and his art haha.
