I don't think my finger has ever scrolled so fast down a newsy, the words "load shedding" are far too familiar to any South African. Can't believe my country's severe electricity problem has made a feature onto my fav newsy, we often forget that the rest of the world has no idea what these random terms mean, any who ya'll the best!! think of us when you switch your lights on xxx
We have load shedding in Australia sometimes in the summer. It’s not a nation wide blackout though. They take some customers off to prevent a nation wide blackout.
I think NZ has had load shedding in the winter which is when energy usage is at its highest there.
this is such a silly brag but when the loadshedding tiktok came up on my fyp, i actually knew what it was! i have a south african coworker who just got to NZ about a month or so ago and she told me all about it - i basically just kept repeating “sorry what?” bc the whole thing is so cooked!!
