What's happening in Iran is honestly beyond disgusting. The fact no major news outlets are talking about it is just mind boggling. So thanks for covering this. There's a prepared email draft written by diaspora Iranian lawyers and activists ready to be sent to The UN, Whitehouse and news agencies worldwide. All they're asking is for everyone worldwide to show solidarity and send this email. To hopefully help these innocent lives.
my favourite song is definitely robbers or loving someone (even you is a close third) both of the songs got me through a lot especially growing up!(ps. for the welly show)
loving someone really did a lot for me growing up confused about my sexuality. i used to listen to the live version on spotify everyday thinking about when i was going to come out (sadly i still haven’t got to the stage where i’m comfortable and ready to come out to my family). the song always brought me so much comfort and felt like a hug. robbers is just a common favourite for so many of fans of the 1975. it’s just so good to sob to and i also i relate to it a little to much. also thank u for doing this!! i know this means a lot to so many kiwis who cant afford to see them <333
Hey Luce, appreciate your approach to fact checking - I’ve been seeing that post too and didn’t want to share it without being able to verify it (which I also couldn’t do). I just saw a post by @theworldwidetribe on IG which summarised what they think the correct situation is and how the message has become a bit confused. If there’s a way to verify the finding of the Iranian parliament then there may be a way to report on just the accurate parts of the situation because obviously it is an important one!

My fav song will forever be fallingforyou but I do have a new obsession with the titled track the 1975 on their newest album. The lines “im sorry if you’re living and you’re seventeen” and “i cant sleep cause the american dream has been buying a part of my self esteem” are just so insanely painful. The significance of being seventeen and dealing with the transitional period of moving from high school to college and adulthood. The line about the american dream also resonates with me due to the fact that i came here at a young age and ive ever since fought and suffered in hopes to archive that hypothesis of “the American dream”

I was really into that song when i was 16 years old. i didn’t know why i was so obsessed with it - was it the “atheist”, “lesbian kiss”, “if i’m lost, then how can i find myself?” , or just the jazzy tune? that song has been there for me throughout all of these years - through loss, coming out, the pandemic, heartbreak, and so much more. i’m so grateful for the 1975 <3
