So now we all know that Trump is guilty
I’m basically just writing this so that I have a paper trail of the historic things that have happened in the world - I know you all know about this already. But in case you missed it, former President Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records on Thursday.
Here are some things you need to know:
Unforch, this will not stop him from being able to run for election
He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11
Experts have told ABC News it is highly unlikely Trump will be sentenced to prison time
If you wanna read more about this, here u go!!
Claudia Sheinbaum just became Mexico’s first female president
Um, in huge news, Claudia Sheinbaum has just won a landslide victory to become Mexico’s first female president!!!!
“For the first time in the 200 years of the republic I will become the first woman president of Mexico,” Sheinbaum told supporters to loud cheers of “presidenta, presidenta” – the feminine form of the country’s top political post.
Sheinbaum is a leftwing climate scientist
She the former mayor of Mexico City
She won the presidency with between 58.3% and 60.7% of the vote
She’s the first woman to win a general election in the US, Mexico or Canada
She’ll be the first person from a Jewish background to lead the country
This is huge news for Mexico’s typical ‘macho’ culture, and I can’t wait to see what comes of it!!!

So many of us have grown up having everything available and accessible to us all the time - which is AMAZING for so many reasons, but there is a cost to free things - even if you can’t see it.
In a world that feels more mystifying by the day, where journalists are constantly being laid off, and misinformation spreads faster than a leaked Harry Styles song, finding media that you trust, understand and actually want to read is so important.
I know you value what I do - so many of you email me saying how much you love the newsletter, thanking me for explaining topics you might not have heard of, and telling me how much it means to you that you’ve got a friend on the other side of this thing (🥺🥺🥺) If you believe in paying for the media (or the person???) you love, then please consider becoming a supporter.

As a Mexican woman myself, and someone who voted in this past election I must say that the fact that Claudia Sheinbaum has become the next president of our nation is not good news at all.
I've been seeing a lot of news coverage over this election in the past few days where big-name publications have praised Sheinbaum exclusively for becoming the first female president in the country, but have completely disregarded the very important context of what her ruling, as an individual, would mean for the future of Mexico...
Despite being a climate scientist, she has no qualm about supporting projects that directly affect the environment, like the development of Tren Maya, an intercity railway resulting in severe deforestation and a huge negative impact on protected and indigenous land. Not to mention, the undermining of the water scarcity crisis the nation has been going through for the past couple of years as the climate crisis worsens.
In her political career, as the Delegational Chief of the Tlalpan and Head of Government of Mexico City, she tried sweeping under the rug massive infrastructural disasters like the collapse of both Colegio Rébsamen, and the #12 Metro Line, resulting in the deaths of almost 50 innocent people.
Despite calling herself a feminist, she has actively criticized the growing feminist movement and under her leadership, Mexico City even criminalized anti-femicide protests in the wake of a massive surge in gender-based violence.
And most importantly, she represents a political party largely formed by convicted felons, corrupt individuals and people associated with cartels... She proudly stands for their beliefs as they overturn INE, the one and only autonomous agency responsible for organizing and overseeing justice and nonpartisanship in federal elections. Not to mention, they have a history of underfunding healthcare and education, have tanked the economy and are actively supporting militarization under the guise of "security", pretending to care for the people whose rights they are eager to abuse... A fraudulent political party that has now won majority in both, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
Though it is an honor to witness such a historic moment for women in leadership roles as we get our first female president, a win for Claudia Sheinbaum represents the beginning of the end of democracy in Mexico, as we head towards the path that other Latinamerican countries such as Venezuela have paved.
...so if I could posible leave SYSCA with a message, is to please reconsider in future publications the cause for celebration when it comes to political news... A more in-depth analysis into some of the news they share will give enough context to know better.

If anyone is still reading, I apologize for the rant... it's been a frustrating time here, and I trust SYSCA enough to know they'll take this message into consideration.
Mexico has a female President? That’s huge news!
