A SYSCA BESTIE GOT THE 22 HAT AT TAYLOR’S SECOND MELBOURNE SHOW
A few of you might recognise Oliver Mills from TikTok as the dude who sings (and cries) in his car. A few of you might recognise him because you read my piece about Taybaiting in the newsy last year. But more of you probably recognise him now as the dude who got told by the actual Taylor Swift that he’s ‘funny’ after she gifted him the 22 hat in Melbourne a few nights ago:
For the uninformed, the 22 fedora (would we call it a fedora?) gets given out to one lucky fan at each show. Usually, it’s random children, sometimes it’s nepo babies, but this time it was Ollie.
I know Ollie because we hung out after I wrote the Taybaiting piece, so when I woke up to see HIM LITERALLY ON STAGE WITH TAYLOR SWIFT I lost my WHOLE mind. It felt like it had happened to me (of course, it hadn’t.) When I asked wtf happened he sent me a bunch of hilarious (albeit unhinged) voice notes saying it was the ‘best fucking night of his life’ because not only did he dress up as Jack Antonoff in that iconic Getaway Car video, but they also GOT GETAWAY CAR as one of the surprise songs (in a MASHUP TOO.) He neglected to inform me about how it all came to be (though I did figure it out via a deep dive into his manager’s Instagram stories) but because mystery is sexy, I’m going to leave that to your imagination.
All in all he had the best night of his young life, and just because I love him doesn’t mean I don’t totally hate his guts right now.
