Honestly powering an ice rink in the desert is irresponsible and a massive waste of resources. It should never have been signed off. Love Frank, but this is not fun behaviour. The climate crisis is not any individuals responsibility, but those with extreme wealth and the power that come with it do have more opportunity to set an example, or just not be super wasteful in front of a global audience.
Recently joined your universe and just need to say thanks for being the friends in my headphones. I just moved to a new city in a new country from a rural island in Scotland with my husband and 4 year old daughter. Yet to make a friend but you guys have been keeping me company and laughing. P.S. making friends as a millennial mum is a full time job.
Amen to ordcore! My mundane little rituals keep me so grounded and help fight against stress or whatever. Folding laundry before work, listening to the morning news, meal prepping - all v ordinary but doing them keeps me afloat
I admittedly know nothing about Frank Ocean but like... I don't think there should be any excuses for that. The guy is being paid millions of dollars to perform, working class people who love his music are paying thousands to see him (more than they ordinarily would because they have to go to an already expensive festival just to see him because he apparently hasn't performed since 2016) there's no excuses to not give them a good performance. Still grieving the loss of your brother? Okay, don't perform. Don't take the payday, don't waste people's time and hard earned money. If you can't give it your all don't do it.
Also LOVING the Matty gif today thank you!! Have the best time at the concert!!!
Paperback are waayyyyy better than hardbacks. I’m actually sad tho because three books I want are all hardback and I can’t wait a year to read a book I really want.
I’d be bummed too if I was a stan and couldn’t even view the livestream. It’s spot on to say a lot of artists are pulling out all the stops for live performances in this post pandemic world (anyone see Jackson Wang’s performance?!) Hopefully Frank Ocean is ok and things go more smoothly next time around.
Akilah Hughes wrote a really interesting piece called "I Hope Frank Ocean is Okay" that I'd encourage everyone to check out. We have high expectations as fans and can sometimes forget that artists are also humans! Frank lost his little brother suddenly before the pandemic and she considers how perhaps grief played a part here, noting the performance (or lack thereof) "felt much more akin to a cry for help."

it’s a paperback book every time, something about it just feels right & aligned 😌
Hardcover for prettiness on the shelf, paperback for ease of reading!

paperback so that I can bend the book and read. I love it when the book is bent & has a well-read/well-used vibe to it
Have a great night, Luce ! Have fun !!!

Another option beyond paperbacks and hardbacks - ebooks! I can't remember the last time I read an actual physical book, I read everything on my phone.
