Angels hi!!!! Yesterday I helped two of my flatmates set up their sharesies accounts because I’m so sick of this shit being made to seem mystifying to young people (espesh young women.) The least I could do was show them the basics and help them set up an auto-invest plan - so that’s what we did!! Karma brings her friends to the summit! Weird time to be doing it, I know, but if not now, when?
I literally have nothing else to report on for you, except for that we have NEW BLACK MIRROR DROPPING TONIGHT and my flat has been looking forward to this for weeks.
Love you,
Luce xxx
More tariff-raff
The latest on tariffs is that Trump slapped a massive 104% tariff on Chinese goods and he’s coming for everyone else too:
→ 20% on the EU
→ 26% on India
→ 49% on Cambodia
→ 10% flat for most other countries (including the UK)
He’s calling it negotiation. Everyone else is calling it chaos.
What’s the fallout?
Markets = tanking
China = furious
Elon Musk = low key begging Trump to chill
Conservative groups = suing Trump for going rogue
Why should we care?
This means stuff is gonna get more expensive. Think: phones, clothes, your new favourite tech bits.
And next?
Trump says countries will “come crawling back” to make deals. China says “absolutely not.”
Scientists just dropped the most detailed 3D scan ever of the Titanic wreck
What new things did we learn?
The Titanic basically broke like a wishbone. The new scan shows in visceral detail how the ship split in two, with the bow quite eerily still upright.
Boiler room heroes were very real. The scan shows open steam valves and buckled boilers, backing up survivor accounts that the engineers kept the lights on so people could escape 🥺
A tiny-ass iceberg scratch sank her. New simulations show the iceberg left gashes about the size of A4 paper - small holes that spanned six compartments, not four. That’s why she sank, even though she was “unsinkable.”
What makes this interesting?
This isn’t just a scan—it’s a full digital twin made from 700,000 images taken by underwater robots. Basically, for the first time, experts can “walk” through the wreck virtually and piece together her final hours in real-time.

Kia ora!!!
Coming to you off the back of a gorgeous gorgeous final Sunday scaries dinner where Stanley Tucci Lite had the cocktails flowing and I got so wrapped up in having a lovely time I took not a single photo despite promising I would!! Here is one my bestie Kim snapped before dinner feat the cute menus she made for it 🥹 I am surrounded by talented (enneagram four) friends!!
I asked everyone to tell me one dish they would really enjoy and ended up making
flatbreads,
slow cooked lam
whipped feta
pasta amatriciana, and
the most boring yet only dish documented from the night - a caprese salad
which will be my fall back side dish probably forever.
I have made iterations of this for every season, tomato mozzarella and basil on the cusp of autumn when the stone fruit isn’t plentiful, chilli melon and thyme in spring, but at its best in the peak of summer, fresh peaches (or nectarines), ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced shallot, fresh basil and torn mozzarella/burrata / whatever is cheapest!
It’s a dish that really shines when you have fresh produce, but I have definitely made it with anaemic tomatoes in the depths of winter and with enough flaky salt and olive oil I think it does juuust fine. I love a dish where every part is totally interchangeable so long as you have the basics there, fat in some form (cheese, olive oil), acid (tomato, balsamic), sweetness (peach, nectarine) along with some herbs and salt and you have a meal I think most people will enjoy!!
Anyway, it's barely cooking just a bit of chopping, so the perfect dish for the time poor chef - which this week is definitely me as we pack up our flat and prepare to leave!!
Next week I will share one of my faaaaaavorite pasta recipes but in the meantime any syscahood members living in San Fran pals please send through any recommendations !!!!
Lots of love, London Laura xxxx

I completely agree that this season on white lotus was a little lack luster. In comparing it to the past seasons, I feel like it was too many storylines to get a good plot out of it. There were just sooooo many people to keep track of and to have a connecting but interesting plot line.
I still need to finish this season of the White Lotus so i am loving your review haha
