the BRITs had me in BRITs and pieces
The BRITs Liam Payne tribute, upsetting trans news in Montana, and beautiful scenes from Te Matatini 𓆩♡𓆪
My angels, I am going to confess something to you that I am not proud of. Yesterday I got pulled over by a cop for sending an email while driving. Not that I’m trying to make any excuses, but it was standstill traffic and I was emailing a new friend to let her know I was going to be later (I REALLY HATE BEING LATE.) Anyway, the jokes on me, because I ended up being even later, and getting a fine. Anyway, I’m telling you this because it’s probs some sort of sign from the universe or something and I just feel compelled to do so. Don’t go on your phone while driving angels 𓆩♡𓆪
On another note, I watched Anora with
yesterday after seeing it clean up at the Oscars and we really liked it for the first 30 minutes and then there was just TOO MUCH YELLING AND SCREAMING. That’s our review xTe Matatini 🥺
I didn’t get a chance to write about this in yesterday’s newsy but I really want to because it’s the most spesh thing I’ve ever seen. Last weekend Aotearoa had its biennial national Kapa Haka competition, and if you haven’t already, I’d like you to watch the People’s Choice winners (Naia Awatea, Bailee Tava, Te Kuru Marutea and their kapa) perform their winning waiata 🥺
"The Crime Is Being Trans": Montana House Passes Indecent Exposure Bill Applying Only To Trans People
A fucking upsetting update from
today. Basically, the Montana House of Representatives passed an extreme anti-trans bill that would criminalize trans people existing in any public space.Montana’s HB 446, an indecent exposure bill, creates two separate legal standards - one for transgender individuals and one for everyone else. While existing law requires intent for indecent exposure charges, this bill removes that requirement specifically for trans people, making it possible to criminalize them simply for being in public spaces like locker rooms and bathrooms.
The bill defines indecent exposure differently for trans individuals, applying it broadly to any "exposure of intimate parts" rather than requiring intent to harm or harass. This means transgender men who have had top surgery could face criminal charges for taking off their shirts in public, and transgender women could be prosecuted for using gendered spaces, regardless of whether they’ve had surgery.

Damn! Watching that waiata and I'm covered in gooseys (& it can't be the weather cause it's 20 degrees).
SHAME ON YOU MONTANA! (sorry - all shouty but that bit made my hackles rise). About to make a donation to trans support group in the US seeing as there's nothing else I can do.
Thank you for sharing the waiata - beautiful opportunity to close my eyes and listen. Just so heartbroken at that law targeting trans folk in Montana, sickening
