Thank you for your writing! I hope that when you are at Mt Blakiston you are able to find out the indigenous name for the area and the stories about the place that existed before your Uncle “discovered” it.
this is so interesting, i love what you post!! unfortunately i believe this entire phenomenon is one of the reasons why AI will take over our lives (for best or worse idk), people need so desperately tailor-made-everything that it will reach levels only AI can keep up with. as a person you will become the main character of the content, movies, shows you watch, and books you read...
The inability to think critically and reason through a problem is truly astounding to me. Maybe it’s because I’m Gen X, so didn’t grow up online. Maybe it’s because I’m a scientist and have, therefore, been taught how to solve problems and do research. But FFS. “I don’t eat X ingredient.” Ok. Well, shouldn’t it be on the person who doesn’t eat X ingredient to know what subs in well? I dabble with the idea of becoming a content creator (travel and lifestyle mostly) and I guarantee I will be a salty, sarcastic B when asinine questions come my way.
Yes! I've had readers ask me for advice on the weirdest shit. Like I have curly hair so brushes are dead to me and I've had so many people over the years ask for brush recommendations and I'm like sorry I don't brush my hair and they're like 'You DON'T BRUSH YOUR HAIR???? How do you LIVE???' and I'm like bruh - I have curly hair. It's completely different to straight hair. Go ask someone with straight hair. Like when all the straight hair girlies are trying to decide if middle parts or side parts are cool I'm not like 'WHAT ABOUT CURLY HAIR???' I just silently muse to myself about how weird it must to have a choice in how your hair is parted and go on my merry way.
Brilliant. Such potent commentary about the generations who are growing up online - internet parented? I mean, what other resources outside of the internet do people use anymore? Directing such 'what about me' questions to online creators is normal now, whether it makes sense or not, and that's how the current audiences roll (like a previous commenter, I'm also gen x here so I've experienced formative years without being online 24/7 and being forced to think and ask questions outside of technology). Anyway, great post.

I don't think this story is relevant to me 🙃😉
I have seen this so much on content recently and I truly do not understand! Thank you for writing about this phenomenon.
Yesss….self-awareness is key here. When did it become so hard to think to one-self, “this doesn’t apply to me, so moving on!”
