I forever will be embarrassed to be an American because of this goddamn Cheeto we’ll have to call president. I wish everyday that Kamala had won or that Cascadia could be real (Washington, Oregon, and California becoming either their own small country or another Canadian province.) I wish I wish I wish.
Thanks for reporting on the tough stuff, especially since most of what he says is absolutely moronic. And, welcome back ❤️
it’s so nice to be back (you know, despite the world) and I feel like it’s my civic duty to never shut up about this stuff because I was lucky enough to be born in New Zealand!!!!!!!
i don't think anything trump says should be taken with a pinch of salt, from the most incredulous bizarre things to the cause-for-concern stuff, they should all be taken seriously.
Notwithstanding 'Shit's' flippant tone and Trump's also, there will be an isolationist caucus within the US elite (as represented by the Cato Institute) that envisages a contiguous empire extending from the Darien Gap to the Arctic. Who is going to stop it? Neither the Commonwealth nor the Kingdom of Denmark have the capacity to prevent such a thing. The USA is more-or-less self-reliant in resources as it stands. The more contiguous territory it controls, and the less land-border it has to maintain, the stronger its fortress.
Trump's 'little joke' should be seen as an icebreaker to the conversation about where the USA sees itself in the not-too-distant future.
There is a British podcast called "These Times" which recently did an in-depth and historical review of why the US does/has previously wanted to expand and take Greenland, Canada, etc
Caveat, UnHerd who produce(?) the podcast are right wing leaning and pretend to be balanced.. although I don't align with their news articles and the like, the historical/political podcasts are quite interesting for a deep dive. (See their Race for the Artic pod)

He's not even president yet and I'm tired of having to waste brain energy thinking about him
