The Alcatraz comment: it's akin to claiming that U.S. cruise ships are no good anymore, so we should salvage the Titanic because it was such a good ship. So good.

I get the whole idea of met gala being grossly excessive in times of strain, but I think this is unfair given it’s a fundraiser and allowing access to the arts is crucial. Also one of the first times Black culture is being celebrated in this forum

the met gala turned dystopian this year - it feels unreal that people are dressing up and having silly but mad expensive galas when there are so much bigger things going on in real life…

As a criminal justice and psychology student, Alcatraz reopening is terrifying!! Corrections is already struggling with rehabilitation and extremely high costs, reopening Alcatraz will ruin so much push for rehabilitation and (in my not completely full of knowledge opinion) would likely hurt the economy. Where are we going to get the money to fund Alcatraz? Also…due process is a constitutional right!!
