Hi my angels!!!! How are you? It’s finally starting to get cold up here in Tāmaki Makaurau (as a south island girlie I love the cold) so I’m writing this for you from under my duvet today with a hot coffee beside me to keep me warm from the inside! This weekend I honestly didn’t do too much except catch up on all the work I didn’t do thanks to my two-day mezcal hangover last week (never again), but I did attend (and take the Close Friends to) the FastX premiere here in New Zealand and Jason Momoa was there!!! Ugh I have such a crush. Hope your weekend was cute, and also HI to so many new faces in the newsy!!! Happy to have you here my besties!

For those of you who aren’t going to watch the video (you should) basically during ‘Bad Blood’ Taylor notices something happening in the crowd between a security guard and some fans, where apparently all night the security guard had been overly aggressive to this group who were just having fun. One of the fans who was being harassed by the guard jumped on TikTok and explained what happened and said that ‘it wasn’t some big crazy thing,’ but that the guard got removed, and that Taylor’s team had given her and her friends all tickets for the next show too!
All I’m saying is that if you listen to the video, Taylor’s angry remix low-key hits harder than the Kendrick Lamar Bad Blood remix, and if I know Swifties, they’re about to turn the ‘HEY, STOP’ into something they do at every show.
Also, just imagine being told off by Taylor Swift?? I’d be so embarro.
Twitter has a new SHE-EO
Content warning: I’m using SHE-EO sarcastically here.
Some of you might remember that last year Elon asked Twitter (via his own mundane poll) whether he should step down from being in charge of the company, and 58% of people said yes. So now he’s stuck to his word (I know) and appointed a new SHE-EO to run his dumpster fire company, and it’s Linda Yaccarino (who used to be in charge of advertising at NBCUniversal.)
Elon himself is stepping down to focus on other stuff (which is probably for the best considering the company he bought for $44 billion is losing money and advertisers like they’re going out of fashion) and is gonna be an executive chair and chief technology officer.

Deadly storm hits Bangladesh and Myanmar coast (The Guardian)
Cyclone Mocha - which has far too much of a delicious name for how devastating it is - has hit the coastlines of Bangladesh and Myanmar after becoming the equivalent of a category-five storm. It’s hitting Cox’s Bazar, the world’s largest refugee camp, and 500 bamboo houses there have already been destroyed.

Thailand elections: Vote counting shows Thaksin's daughter as frontrunner (BBC)
So voting just closed in Thailand’s general election and the daughter of the former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra - who got kicked out of office - is the favourite to win. More on this story here!
Turkey
Turkey’s President Awaits Results After Tough Re-election Fight (The New York Times)
Turkey is also having an election (tis the damn season!) and we’re currently awaiting the results. This is an important election for the country, as the current president (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) has been in power for two decades and a lot of the country is unhappy with the state of the economy and “concerns among many voters that he has pushed the country toward one-man rule.”

Since the new Twitter ceo was announced I keep seeing this phrase being tossed around called the glass cliff, this idea that women are often put in charge of companies when they are already close to failing so the blame can be put on them.... honestly wouldn't put it past Elon to try it to get the heat off him.
