do not disturb and focus modes have been LIFESAVING for my adhd. being able to actually do things without my phone buzzing and distracting me is so freeing
Turning off push notifications from specific apps is more work, but I find personally a better fit. The single best thing I ever did for myself was turn off push notifications from Gmail in the weeks before March 2020, during an epic discussion about a proposed family reunion in Sydney...
I came here to recommend this! I have turned off all app notifications except for calls and texts, and I use DND only when I truly don't want to be contacted by anyone.
What I wish is that I could have a setting to change the colour of the notification bubbles on the apps on my phone, because the red (especially if I can’t get rid of the notification for some reason) stresses me out and makes me feel I *must* deal with it. I’d love to be able to change it to grey so it’s just a number.
I don't have dnd on 24/7 but I have turned off ALL notifications apart from people closest to me. So I might as well have dnd on. My phone is on silent 98% of the time anyway.
I just have no notifications for anything - no news, no email. So I only get calls, texts and fb/whatsapp messages. And I have most big group chats muted. I also don't have any social media apps downloaded to my phone, so only use browser or don't use them at all. I still have 2hr average screen time per day though :'(
I had NO IDEA about the story behind why AL considered embryos children. I honestly thought Alabama woke up one morning and was like "You know what? Embryos are children"
Luce I was at the same Taylor show and it was so gooooooood!!
I have DND on so often I had to set certain contacts messages to still come through because my brother was worried if he tried to contact me in an emergency I wouldn't answer
Luce you make me laugh so ungodly hard sometimes 🤣 "this created a buzz, but not literally, our phones were on dnd" cryingggg! We have a very similar sense of humor, and I can always rely on you for a laugh dude. Love you the most!!
Re: DND - I totally get overwhelmed with too many notifications, but then I'll uninstall apps I'm not using and I'll dial down the notifications in the ones I am until I reach a level that doesn't cause me stress daily. Do others do this as well?
I have DND on 24/7 but sometimes it has the opposite effect of making me check my phone more juuust in case there is a notification… I can’t win 😭

Same! I turn off notifications as standard now and only have a handful of notifications come through.
Likewise, all notifications off apart from a few chosen people

Turn everything grey!

Do you use Ground News to source your news? I don't think it has your vibe, though?
omg were you with bridey and jiny as well??
I only ever put DND when I sleep because yeah, I don’t want to be disturb during the one time I’m off from the world lol
