“The world finally paid attention to Shaban when his last moments were filmed this week. Connected to an IV drip, he was burned alive along with his mother after Israeli forces bombed the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital complex in Deir el-Balah in the early hours of Monday.”
And next, this recount of what it was like to witness the bombing of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, and survive.
“It was 1:10am when a massive explosion shook everything,” Madi, a 37-year-old mother of six, recalls as she sits in the remains of her burned tent.
“I looked out and saw flames devouring the tents next to ours,” Madi says. “My husband and I carried the kids and ran towards the emergency building.
“At the entrance, I saw my five-year-old son, who was screaming, was bleeding. I took him to the doctors to discover that he had shrapnel in his stomach.”

The U.S. has just told Israel they’ve got 30 days to make sure more humanitarian aid reaches Gaza or they could lose some of the military support the U.S. has been giving them (and as we know and hate the U.S. is a major supplier of weaponry to Israel). This message, sent last Sunday, is the strongest warning the U.S. has given Israel publicly so far, and it comes at a time when Israel is intensifying its offensive in northern Gaza—a move that’s led to so many more civilian deaths.
In the letter, the U.S. pointed out that last month, Israel blocked or slowed down almost 90% of aid efforts moving between the northern and southern parts of Gaza. Yesterday, Israel did allow 30 trucks carrying food from the World Food Programme into northern Gaza for the first time in two weeks, but before that, the UN was warning that food and other basic supplies were running out for the 400,000 Palestinians trapped there.
