Vinegar and baking soda in the drain can be a go, you also might have to get a very long piece of wire (hook the end so it's not sharp against the pipe edge) and deal with the absolute grossness of that process. Plus a plunger never goes amiss. It could just be old pipes! Welcome to a country with houses more than 50 years old!

Seconding the wire comment - I use a plastic snake drain (basically a long piece of plastic with barbs). It pulls up ungodly amounts of hair from my shower drain. Though that only helps if the clog is close enough to the drain!

You definitely need a plunger!Do NOT get the old cap style plunger. The newer style that has the accordion bit is easier and cleaner to use, and for most of us has a much more powerful plunge.
