A list of things that randomly feel good
+ I have learnt more about the new Mexican president, and Trisha Paytas had a baby girl named Elvis
Good morning angels!!!!! Yesterday I impulsively made the decision to go and get some new tattoos (OGs will know about my little dancing flower and duck 🥺) with my new bestie (who’s also called Luce.) We’re getting them done on Thursday and I’m gonna keep what I’m getting a secret and reveal them to Close Friends when they’re done (so if you’re not already, go and become a Close Friend!!!)
I also watched Challengers for the third time last night. Still hot.
Hope you had a cute day yesterday, hope you have a cute day today x

I have learnt more about the new Mexican president
Ok, I say this all the time, but the thing I love the most about this newsy is that you all make me so much smarter with EVERY REPLY YOU SEND ME!!! Case in point: after writing about Mexico’s new president yesterday, it seems I was perhaps seeing her through rose-tinted lenses.
Here’s just one of the thoughtful and detailed responses we got, for a little more context:
“As a Mexican woman myself, and someone who voted in this past election I must say that the fact that Claudia Sheinbaum has become the next president of our nation is not good news at all.
I've been seeing a lot of news coverage over this election in the past few days where big-name publications have praised Sheinbaum exclusively for becoming the first female president in the country, but have completely disregarded the very important context of what her ruling, as an individual, would mean for the future of Mexico...
Despite being a climate scientist, she has no qualms about supporting projects that directly affect the environment, like the development of Tren Maya, an intercity railway resulting in severe deforestation and a huge negative impact on protected and indigenous land. Not to mention, the undermining of the water scarcity crisis the nation has been going through for the past couple of years as the climate crisis worsens.
In her political career, as the Delegational Chief of the Tlalpan and Head of Government of Mexico City, she tried sweeping under the rug massive infrastructural disasters like the collapse of both Colegio Rébsamen, and the #12 Metro Line, resulting in the deaths of almost 50 innocent people.
Despite calling herself a feminist, she has actively criticized the growing feminist movement and under her leadership, Mexico City even criminalized anti-femicide protests in the wake of a massive surge in gender-based violence.
And most importantly, she represents a political party largely formed by convicted felons, corrupt individuals and people associated with cartels... She proudly stands for their beliefs as they overturn INE, the one and only autonomous agency responsible for organizing and overseeing justice and nonpartisanship in federal elections. Not to mention, they have a history of underfunding healthcare and education, have tanked the economy and are actively supporting militarization under the guise of "security", pretending to care for the people whose rights they are eager to abuse... A fraudulent political party that has now won majority in both, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
Though it is an honor to witness such a historic moment for women in leadership roles as we get our first female president, a win for Claudia Sheinbaum represents the beginning of the end of democracy in Mexico, as we head towards the path that other Latin American countries such as Venezuela have paved.”
I thought it was important that I came in here and added this - I ain’t here to blindly stan a politician, even if she is the first woman president x
India is currently having a crazy election
As we speak the results are rolling in for India’s general election, aka the biggest election in the world (with almost a billion people registered to vote.) Here’s what we know so far:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is claiming victory
BUT his BJP-led alliance failed to secure an overall majority of its own for the first time in a decade
I can’t say that I keep up very with Indian politics very closely, so if you wanna know more, it’s probs best you go here xx

Hi crushes! Writing to you on the magic zen of having two nights away on a lake with friends, and touching grass, and being in natche (nature? Hmm not much shorter, is it), and forgetting about everything for a second. What else makes you feel good? CRAZY you asked because on the train home, I compiled a list for you:
A list of things that randomly feel good
Wearing other people’s clothes that randomly really suit you
Coffee someone else has made for you
When someone leaves a table at a café just as you enter so you can take it
Getting a haircut you like and going out straight after like something a celebrity would do
Buying a pair of pants and they’re magically the right length
Remembering someone’s birthday on… their birthday
Arriving to meet a friend somewhere at the exact same time as them
Searching for flights, and there’s a cheap one at the exact time you want it
Putting something on a shelf and it looking like it's meant to be there
The kitchen sink when it’s been cleaned
Opening the book you’re reading on exactly the right page
Getting a text back from a crush within a 13-minute timeframe but in a totally chill girl mutually crushing way
Not being exhausted on Friday afternoon and having the joi de vivre (and let's be honest, disposable income at this point) to go out with friends
Leftover pizza for breakfast
Sleeping in clean sheets that have been dried by the sun
Walking onto the bus and sitting down at the perfect time it accelerates so it all happens in one swooshing motion
Writing an email and sending it without even having to think too much about it
Getting dressed in a combination you’ve never tried before, and it just really ~ working ~
Someone apologising straight away and you both getting over it
Someone you like saying ‘obsessed’ about anything you’ve just said
A stranger in a store saying ‘great choice’ about whatever you’re buying
The tired body feeling after dancing really late the night before
Being on the back of a Lime scooter with someone who rides with conviction
Someone carrying your bag for you like it's no big thing
Anyone being nice at the airport
A cute DM from a stranger
Writing your name on a form and it fits perfectly inside the box
Going to a party and meeting a stranger you genuinely like
Losing track of time
Finding something you thought you'd lost forever
Packing for a trip and having space in your suitcase
Having just the right amount of change
Loving a new song so much you play it on repeat the whole way til you get to where you're going
Would love to hear yours xxx

Trisha Paytas had her baby, her name is Elvis
I guess this means the King is dying soon? Look out Charles!
I’m also thinking about kids these days:

Some items I'd like to add to Bell's list!
- Seeing text bubbles in a chat to a friend at the same time you are sending them a text
- When the scissors glide
- When you're in good company you forget about time passing, looking at your phone, and everything else around you
- Laughing so hard that it's almost like you're giving yourself an ab workout
- Hearing your favorite song by an artist live in concert for the first time
To ad to Bells list:
Getting compliments on your outfit from strangers.
I have a long history of low self confidence but ever since I started dressing in a way that feels authentically me and not caring what people think I genuinely get so many compliments from strangers just out and about and it's such a thrill every time
