a superbowl round-up from someone who doesn't care about the superbowl
"The revolution’s about to be televised. You picked the right time but the wrong guy"
My babies!!! Hi!!!! Okay, I’m not going to lie to you, I’m on a little bit of a comedown after a huuuuuge few days. I knew it was coming, so I’m slightly prepped for it, but let me talk you through it!!!
I got home from the USA, and the next day I had LANEWAY where I got to see Charli fkn XCX and it was the best time of my goddamn life:
After Laneway we had the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival which was where I pushed the boat out waaaaay too far and honestly don’t remember half the day which I do not condone and do regret.
Today I am packing up the rest of my life and my car to properly move over to Wellington and I am HATING my life. But I’m not hating it so much that I won’t still sit here in amongst the pigsty that is my room and write a little newsletter for you.
Love you! So excited to try and get back on a normal schedule xxxxx

The Superbowl Happened
Here’s a Luce-style update, from someone who doesn’t give a shit about the sport heheh.
I’m pretty sure Travis Kelce’s team lost
Taylor Swift got booed and Lana Del Rey had something to say about it:
Donald Trump had a hissy fit:
Kendrick Lamar performed the halftime show and here are the highlights from that:
Drake was publicly humiliated, once again
Samuel L. Jackson came out as Uncle Sam
During ‘HUMBLE’ Kendrick stood in between his dancers who were in the formation of the US Flag, literally dividing it
After his first song, Lamar chanted “The revolution’s about to be televised. You picked the right time but the wrong guy.”
SZA CAME OUT AND SLAYED
Serena Williams came out and crip walked which is symbolic for a few reasons. 1) because the media tore her to shreds for doing it on the court at Wimbledon, and 2) because Drake was once rumoured to have dated (or at the very least had an obsession with her.) More on that here!
Honestly, I’m tired of talking about sports now. Congratulations to those who celebrate 𓆩♡𓆪

Charli XCX Joins Noah Kahan in Matching Chappell Roan’s $25K Donation to Support Artists’ Healthcare
After Chappell Roan made that amazing speech at the Grammys where she called on labels to give developing artists a liveable wage and healthcare, both Noah Kahan and Charli XCX have agreed to put their money where their mouth is and do the same.
Of course, they are doing this because they agree with Chappell, but probs also because an ex-A&R exec called Jeff wrote a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, calling her speech “wildly misinformed.” This did not sit well with our girl:
Roan responded to Rabhan on social media, challenging him to contribute to the cause. “@jeffrabhan wanna match me $25K to donate to struggling dropped artists?” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “My publicist is @biz3publicity let’s talk.”
The 26-year-old pop star assured her fans that she would keep them “updated on the much awaited @jeffrabhan response,” sharing receipts of any donations, and even directing a final message to the former executive: “Mr. Rabhan, I love how in the article you said ‘put your money where your mouth is,’” Roan wrote. “Genius !!! Let’s link and build together and see if you can do the same.”
So many of us have grown up having everything available and accessible to us all the time - which is AMAZING for so many reasons, but there is a cost to free things - even if you can’t see it.
In a world that feels more mystifying by the day, where journalists are constantly being laid off, and misinformation spreads faster than a leaked Harry Styles song, finding media that you trust, understand and actually want to read is so important.
I know you value what I do - so many of you email me saying how much you love the newsletter, thanking me for explaining topics you might not have heard of, and telling me how much it means to you that you’ve got a friend on the other side of this thing (🥺🥺🥺) If you believe in paying for the media (or the person???) you love, then please consider becoming a supporter.

Thanks for the round up, I didn’t turn the tv on once last night for the first time ever not watching any of the Super Bowl, it was refreshing and I stand by that choice, seems like I missed nothing 😂
going out on a limb here maybe im crazy, but i feel there's so much symbolism with this superbowl? there didn't need to be, but I feel like you could break down the entire event, like if this was fiction every part could be analyzed, maybe that's just me though
